Dr. T.

Dr. Teresa Stewart Meli is the owner of Musicology Denton and passionate advocate for neurodiversity education. She considers teaching piano and voice lessons  to be her life’s purpose which has been deeply enriched by teaching both the neurotypical and neurodiverse  learner. Dr. T has experience with learners with ADHD, Autism Spectrum, Dyslexia, Information Processing Disorder, Dyspraxia, and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.  Hers is a studio which is a celebration of each students’ individualized version of excellence.

Dr T completed a Doctor of Musical Arts and Masters in Music in Performance (University of Nevada-UNLV) and a Bachelor of Arts in Piano (Texas Wesleyan University). 

Additionally, she lectured at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, College of Southern Nevada and Tarrant County College. She co-founded the Las Vegas Community Concert Band and taught subjects in Music History, Piano, Woman’s Music and Rock and Roll. Dr T has additionally served as Director of Music in Piñon, Arizona on the Navajo Nation. Her co-authored book with Victor Lozada, PhD: Diversity in Music Education: Honoring the Languages, Literacies, Abilities, and Cultures of All will be available April 2025 through Rowman & Littlefield.

Dr. T teaches piano, voice, independent study, and theory. Her students have continued their studies throughout the country including Interlochen Center for the Arts and Baylor Piano Institute. This native Texan lives in Denton with her husband, daughter, and two darling pups.
